Soccer Elite FA Women vs Cray Wanderers Women – Adobe Women’s FA Cup – 1st Qualifying Round – Sunday 1st September, 2 pm
This afternoon sees another piece of history in the short history of Cray Wanderers Women as Dean Jarman’s side ahead of next Sunday’s opening league game of the season play their first ever Women’s FA Cup tie. The Wands travel to Gillingham to face Soccer Elite FA Women, also their first FA Cup tie. Kick off at Star Meadow, 2 pm. Please note the tie will be decided after 30 minutes extra time or penalties if level after 90 minutes.
Over the past year there have been a series of firsts for Cray Wanderers Women. The first league game at Gravesham FC almost a year ago and the first home league match. There was the first game on the new 3G surface vs Oakwood in February 2024 and the first league championship as SCEWFL Division One West Champions in April this year marked a great first campaign.
Now Cray begin a new season in SCEWFL Premier next Sunday vs Tonbridge Angels at Flamingo Park (4.30 pm ko) and also make an FA Cup bow with the possibility of a home time for the winners vs. Clapton side Comets in the 2QR on 22nd September.
Prize money for the winners is £1800 with £450 for losing teams.
Soccer Elite FA play their home games at Hollands & Blair FC and their Women’s team is a new side which has merged with XL FC who were last season’s SCEWFL Premier Champions so now play in the London & South East League. So it will be a stern test for Cray Wanderers against a higher league side.
