A note for all supporters, please see here a link to an FA statement which as expected announces following discussions with Government and DCMS, that non-elite football which covers Cray Wanderers and the Isthmian League (steps 3-6 downwards) is suspended during the period of lockdown in England. The lockdown is in effect (if passed by Parliament on Wednesday) enforced from midnight on Thursday 5th November – Wednesday 2nd December. This includes training and all youth team football for that period.

This means as tonight’s game at Bowers & Pitsea has been postponed all matches in that period including home games with Wingate & Finchley, Horsham and Bognor Regis Town are postponed and away league matches at Enfield Town, Worthing and Cheshunt. We await an announcement from the Isthmian League in due course but it does appear they are keen for the season to at least be completed upon resumption (subject to more lockdowns of course). Cray Wanderers first scheduled home game after lockdown is at home to Brightlingsea Regent on 6th December but that is not certain until after an Isthmian League statement.
Also the FA Trophy 1st Round, all the clubs in this round are step 3-4 so possibly unlikely that Cray Wanderers tie at either Uxbridge or Hayes & Yeading can take place as surely defeats the object of a lockdown for non-elite football. We do know that the 10 non-elite clubs in the FA Cup 1st Round will be allowed to fulfill their fixtures albeit behind closed doors.
More information to follow in due course but in the meantime tonight at Bowers & Pitsea is the last chance to see the Wands for a while.
