Cray Wanderers vs Bromley U23s – PSF – Saturday 6th August, 3 pm
With just a week to go until the start of the Isthmian Premier League season, Cray Wanderers wrap up their first team pre-season schedule with a game against Bromley U23s at Hayes Lane. Ko 3pm.
Wands manager Neil Smith will be looking to fine tune the side ahead of the trip to Billericay Town next Saturday by getting some minutes out of the players and maybe look at one or two extras that can make a difference in time for the season.
Last Saturday, the Wands were beaten at Beckenham Town but there was an improved attacking display from the side and since then, winger Michael Ademiluyi who made a lively appearance out on the right and hit the post has signed for the club. Michael was with Bowers & Pitsea last season and also has played for Haringey Borough. Cray took the lead in the game through Tom Derry, his first goal of pre-season. Since the game, goalkeeper Jacob Russell and full back Joey Taylor have departed the club.
Bromley U23s will provide good, solid opposition and Luca Gatti’s side play at a strong level in the Suburban League and finished 3rd last season.
Cray Wanderers fans may recall the impact made by three youngsters from Bromley’s U23s, Archie Burnett, Sam Skeffington and Soul Kader made last season and Skeffington has since signed for the Wands for the upcoming season so possibly a chance to cast an eye over some fine young players once again.
Competitive league and cup football starts in earnest around the country but for the Wands, just one more week remains and the excitement and anticipation starts to build in the next few days.
Admission on the gate or online is £5 across the board and there will also be the July draw of the 100 Club at half time of the game.
