Hello to all Members of the 100 Club.

The end of the month has arrived, our first month done at our new home which off-field has been OK as we all get used to the new facilities but on-field are not what we would have liked as we prop up the Isthmian Premier in last place. One or two poor performances (probably) but personally, I see promise. Doing incredibly well in the Cups. Just need to transfer this good form into our League performances.

And it was on the occasion of our third fixture in the FA Cup, (5th if we include the 2 “unnecessary” replays!!) as we took on Hastings United in a 3rd Qualifying Round match, that we held September’s 100 Club draw. A terrific performance and a 3-0 win that puts us in the hat for next round, where we could get a National League Club? Dare I say it, but another win and it could then be a League team. But let’s not get carried away too much!

It has to be said that we struggled to find a legend of the past to make the draw for us, although I did see James Taylor and Ian Rawlings in the bar after the match. So, the “independent” person we cajoled was, some would say “Legend”, always having an opinion but you have to say is “A Face” at Cray Wanderers, Kevin “Dodsy” Dodson, who those that know him are amazed but not surprised that he isn’t a member of the 100 Club!

Using new balls, as these potentially go up to 150 members, and also hoping that these would produce a few new winners, this is the result of “Dodsy’s” efforts, and it has to be said the results were indeed different and rather strange.

The first ball he drew out of the tombola and the winner of £150 was Frank Glanz, of Orpington, with ball number 76. Well done Frank and congratulations.

Second Prize, and this is where it gets unusual and maybe rather spooky! Dodsy then pulled out ball number 79, which belonged to Vivien Glanz, who wins £100. Well done Vivien.

The third and final prize of £50, went to Alan Richardson, also of Orpington, with ball number 65, who collected his winnings at the match. Congratulations Alan.

Congratulations to our lucky winners and many thanks again to all members for your continued support and participation of the 100 Club. We also thank Dodsy for doing the draw for us.

We now have the option of paying winnings by internet banking as well as by cheque. I will be in touch with the Glanz’s to find out their preferences.

As mentioned in last month’s email, the funds the 100 Club raises are earmarked for the new Under 23s team Cray Wanderers, who I believe currently top their division. Please watch out for notifications of their forthcoming fixtures in the Presence & Co Southern Counties East Development League West, playing their home matches at Flamingo Park, on Friday evenings. (KO times TBC)

With attendances growing, we are seeing a very slow increase in 100 Club membership, although we have also had a few leave due to various circumstances. However, in the meantime, if any of your friends or family would like to join, please email me and I can send out an up-to-date-form. Good news is that the form and the 100 Club contact details on the website have finally been changed and are now correct. There is also a form in the match programme. And again, I must strongly reiterate that if there are any changes to your contact details or indeed if any of your circumstances change and you have to leave, to please could you advise me as soon as possible.

To get the words “100 Club” displayed on another page of the programme, as a further bit of promotion, I took the liberty of sponsoring a player on our behalf. I know Kerry used to do this and thought I could continue the tradition. Instead of running a poll, I thought, with players available, it had to be either David Ijaha or Anthony Cook. As the Girls team had already taken Ijaha, I chose “Cookie”. Says we get a signed shirt? Maybe we can have another draw at the last home match of the season for that?

So, until October’s draw, which we will always attempt to hold at Flamingo Park – although when we do go on the road, all are welcome – take care and “Be lucky”.

Having said that, the last scheduled home Fixture of October is Tuesday 22nd when we entertain Whitehawk; the next home match after that being Saturday 2nd November. So unless we hold Novembers draw at the Whitehawk game, there is a possibility it could be “on the road”. But we shall review this nearer the time.

Cheers!

COYW!!
