100 Club Draw for November 2024
Hello to all Members of the 100 Club.
Apologies for the lateness of this email notification. Christmas is a very busy time for me at work and also outside of work. But I suppose I should be grateful. Rather this than having nothing to do at work and sitting at home, bored?
But I hear you wonder? (Or maybe not?) Didn’t we have a 100 Club Draw a few weeks back?
We always try to do the draws at a home fixture. Despite all the home, rearranged fixtures we had in October, we only had an away game at the end of the month but a home a few days into the next so we held October’s draw on the 2nd of November. So now we are back on track, holding November’s draw … in November, on the occasion of a League match with Carshalton Athletic, on Saturday 30th.
A hard fought match, ending in a 1-1 draw, where we also had a few new players on show. We also had 2 draws during half-time, the 100 Club Draw and a Christmas themed Meat Raffle (which we hope to be a regular monthly feature). It would be remiss of me not to mention that the winner of the first prize of a Turkey Crown went to 100 Club member Bill Bevan.
Anyway back to the 100 Club? We had a special guest at the ground on Saturday. A Cray Wanderers player, who scored 33 goals in 164 matches from 1967-1972, winger Colin McGannon. He also had his 81st birthday on the following Thursday. He looked like he could still do a job and show the current squad a thing or two? Brought to the game by members of his family, he was surprised that we all knew he was going to make an appearance at the game. He was also surprised that we also asked him to do the draw for the 100 Club and below are the results.
The first ball, drawn out of the tombola by Colin and the winner of the £150 first prize, was Bryan Daughtrey of Orpington, with ball number 72. Well done Bryan and congratulations.
Second Prize, went to the “owner” of ball number 11, which belonged to Martin Hodson, of St Mary Cray, who wins £100. Well done Martin.
The third and final prize of £50, drawn by Colin, went to Trudy Jewell of Thundersley in Essex, with ball number 21. Congratulations Trudy.
Congratulations to our lucky winners and many thanks again to all members for your continued support and participation in the 100 Club.
We now have the option of paying winnings by internet banking as well as by cheque. I will be in touch with the winners to find out their preferences soon. Apologies, but there will be a further delay as I will be in Southampton tomorrow and not at work till Friday when I will be able to do bank transfers.
As mentioned previously, the funds the 100 Club raises are earmarked for the new Under 23s team Cray Wanderers, who are still top of their division. Please watch out for notifications of their forthcoming fixtures in the Presence & Co Southern Counties East Development League West, playing their home matches at Flamingo Park, on Friday evenings. (KO times TBC).
With attendances growing, we are seeing a very slow increase in 100 Club membership, although we have also had a few leave due to various circumstances. We will however, have 4 new balls in play for December. In the meantime, if any of your friends or family would like to join, please email me and I can send out an up-to-date-form. You can also download a form from the Cray Wanderers website or use the one printed in the match programme. And again, I must strongly reiterate that if there are any changes to your contact details or indeed if any of your circumstances change and you have to leave, please could you advise me as soon as possible.
So, until December’s draw, which we hope will be drawn at the Billericay match on Saturday 21st, (with another meat raffle I hear) take care and “Be lucky”.
Cheers!
COYW!!
