Cray Wanderers 100 Club Draw Result for August
Hello to all Members of the 100 Club.
With the season started with gusto and Flamingo Park beginning to feel like home, the end of another month has quickly passed by and that means it’s 100 Club draw time again. It has to be said that although the results have not been what we have wanted on the pitch, it is hoped that the new players will begin to jell and the wins will soon come. We have obviously been delighted that the high attendances and the influx of new supporters seem to have remained from the friendly fixtures and that can only be good for Cray Wanderers and the 100 Club where we are beginning to attract new members.
So on the occasion of our first Saturday home league fixture against our old “foes” Lewes, (minus the “baggage” LOL) and considering the bad weather, in front of a decent crowd of 565, and with the band “The 3 Masons”, with 100 Club member Bill Bevan on drums, belting out a great set to entertain the crowd before the match and at half time, we held August’s draw. For those in attendance, I’m sure you may have noticed a small band of unfamiliar people, shall we say, “having a great time”, despite the rain, standing near to the bar, making a lot of noise. They were in fact the playing staff and directors of our opponents in the forthcoming FA Cup match, Larkfield and New Hythe, who decided to make an appearance at Flamingo Park after travelling as far as Guildford only to find their FA Vase match against Selsey (near Chichester) had been postponed. CEO Sam Wright pulled out two people from the happy gathering who happened to be John Michel, Chairman, and Adam Handy, secretary to do the draw,
Chairman John pulled out the first two balls.
The first ball he drew out of the tombola and the winner of £150 was Steve Blendell of St Paul’s Cray, with ball number 6. Well done and congratulations Steve.
Second Prize, for ball number 83, belonged to Alan Borrett of Penge, LONDON SE20, who won £100. Well done Alan.
The third and final prize of £50, drawn out by the Secretary Adam, went to Peter Robinson of Orpington, with ball number 29. Congratulations Peter.
Congratulations to our lucky winners and many thanks again to all members for your continued support and participation in the 100 Club.
As we now have the option of paying winnings by internet banking as well as by cheque, please could the winners let me know of their preferences?
As mentioned in last month’s email, the funds the 100 Club raises are earmarked for the new Under 23s team Cray Wanderers are setting up this season. Please watch out for notifications of their forthcoming fixtures in the Presence & Co Southern Counties East Development League West, playing their home matches at Flamingo Park, on Friday evenings. (KO times TBC)
With attendances growing, we are seeing a slow increase in 100 Club membership but it is only the beginning of the season. However, in the meantime, if any of your friends or family would like to join, please email me and I can send out an up-to-date-form. Good news is that the form and the 100 Club contact details on the website have finally been changed and are now correct. I must reiterate that if there are any changes to your contact details, to please advise me as soon as possible. I don’t really want to send your winnings to the wrong address?
Until the next draw, which we will always attempt to hold at Flamingo Park, take care and “Be lucky”.
Cheers!
COYW!!
John
