Cray Wanderers 100 Club Result for December
Hello to all Members of the 100 Club.
Firstly, may I wish you all the compliments of the season. I hope you all had a very Merry Christmas? I also wish you a Happy New Year!
With the Christmas festivities over, we returned to some form of normality and some football to spectate. It is also the end of the month and time for Decembers 100 Club draw.
We always try and do the draws at a home fixture and have been successful thus far. I think in last month’s winner’s email, I said Decembers draw was going to be held before Christmas, forgetting that we had a game after Christmas. There was a lot going on at the time. The euphoria of coming away from “dirty” Dover, (they’re not really “Dirty” although there were a few juicy tackles in the game, just generally unpleasant!) with a well-earned victory and the “Meat Raffle” taking place at half time (the second prize, ticket number Orange 37 of a Free Range Chicken in Honey & Mustard still remains unclaimed, we think by a lady named Chelsey?) , we decided to postpone.
And what a match we had on a dark and misty Saturday 28th December afternoon versus Hendon, wearing, I have to add, a very fetching pink and light grey kit? In what looked like another 0-0 draw and the 13th clean sheet from Shaun Rowley, the intervention of the post late on, preventing us scoring, as well as the late sending off of Lateef Adaja, it happened, in the 95th minute, the deadlock was broken as a Darion Dowrich cross shot thudded off the crossbar but came out to Josh Williams down the right of the area who placed a shot into the bottom left of the net. Delerium ensued!!!
But before all that excitement, at Half Time, we did squeeze in the 100 Club draw with the Cray Wanderers legend Ian “Rawlo” Rawlings kindly pulling the balls out of the tombola for us.
The first ball, drawn out of the tombola by Ian and the winner of the £150 first prize, was Lee Roblett of Dartford, with ball number 67. Well done Lee and many congratulations to you.
Second Prize, went to ball number 1, which belonged to Phil Babbs, of Orpington, who also edits the excellent printed Programme we produce at Cray Wanderers. He wins £100. Well done Phil.
The third and final prize of £50, drawn by Ian, went to Carole Phillips of Greenhithe, with ball number 26. Congratulations Carole.
Congratulations to our lucky winners and many thanks again to all members for your continued support and participation in the 100 Club.
We now have the option of paying winnings by internet banking as well as by cheque. I will be in touch with the winners to find out their preferences soon.
As mentioned previously, the funds the 100 Club raises are earmarked for the new Under 23s team Cray Wanderers, who are still top of their division. Please watch out for notifications of their forthcoming fixtures in the Presence & Co Southern Counties East Development League West, playing their home matches at Flamingo Park, on Friday evenings. (KO times TBC)
With attendances growing, we are seeing a very slow increase in 100 Club membership, although we have also had a few leave due to various circumstances. In the meantime, if any of your friends or family would like to join, please email me and I can send out an up-to-date-form. You can also download a form from the Cray Wanderers website or use the one printed in the match programme. And again, I must strongly reiterate that if there are any changes to your contact details or indeed if any of your personal circumstances change and you have to leave, please could you advise me as soon as possible.
So, until January’s draw, which due to 2 away fixtures at the end of the month, looks like it will be drawn at the Bognor Regis match on Saturday 1st February, take care and “Be lucky”.
Cheers!
COYW!!
