Cray Wanderers 100 Club Draw Results for October

Hello to all Members of the 100 Club.

Apologies for the lateness of this email notification as I was up in Manchester on Sunday and got back home rather late.

October has been a very busy month. Playing Tuesday- Saturday for most of it but usually at home. Then when you come to arranging a good day for the 100 Club draw, we get another re-arranged match at the end of the month, due to our great FA Cup run but it’s away. However we did finally get a League win and a deserved and well needed goal off the backside of Charlie Edwards, after a clearance from Cheshunt’s keeper. Even though we did have a home Kent Senior Cup match the following Tuesday, against Phoenix Sports, where a mixture of first team and U23’s played well but lost on the lottery of penalties, we thought we’d get a bigger crowd for the League match versus  Hashtag United on the Saturday, where Charlie Edwards continued his fine goal-scoring run with 2 more goals, in a 3-0 win and our first double of the season and indeed our first home league win of the season. Hopefully our fortunes are now pointing in the right direction.

So it was on this occasion that also happened to coincide the 30th anniversary of Gary Hillman, taking over the Chairmanship of the club, that the 100 Club draw for October was carried out, with another Cray Legend, Phil Collins also drawing a number, and all under the watchful eye of myself and Media man Mark Hunt. Many thanks to Phil and Gary for doing the draw, and congratulations to Gary on your 30 years in the Cray Wanderers chair, which I believe was only meant to be temporary.

Think we would all like to thank him for what he has done for the club and I think we’d all agree, he’s been class!

So here are the results of the lad’s efforts.

The first ball, drawn out of the tombola by Gary and the winner of the £150 first prize, was Lorraine Jackson, of Bexleyheath, with ball number 70. Well done Lorraine and congratulations.

Second Prize, drawn by Phil Collins was ball number 60, which belonged to John Quinn, of Braintree in Essex, who wins £100. Well done John

The third and final prize of £50, drawn by Gary, went to a new entrant, James Wilson, of Swanley, with ball number 27. Congratulations James.

Congratulations to our lucky winners and many thanks again to all members for your continued support and participation in the 100 Club.

We now have the option of paying winnings by internet banking as well as by cheque. I will be in touch with the winners to find out their preferences soon.

As mentioned previously, the funds the 100 Club raises are earmarked for the new Under 23s team Cray Wanderers, who currently still top their division after 7 matches. George Brooke has made a few first team appearances and Michael Iheidi and Perri Iondolo came on as  late sub’s on Saturday so the future looks promising. Please watch out for notifications of their forthcoming fixtures in the Presence & Co Southern Counties East Development League West, playing their home matches at Flamingo Park, on Friday evenings. (KO times TBC)

With attendances growing, we are seeing a very slow increase in 100 Club membership, although we have also had a few leave due to various circumstances. However, in the meantime, if any of your friends or family would like to join, please email me and I can send out an up-to-date-form. Good news is that the form and the 100 Club contact details on the website have finally been changed and are now correct. There is also a form in the match programme. And again, I must strongly reiterate that if there are any changes to your contact details or indeed if any of your circumstances change and you have to leave, please could you advise me as soon as possible

So, until November’s draw, which I hope will be drawn at the end of November and at Flamingo Park, take care and “Be lucky”.

Cheers!

COYW!!

John
