Congratulations to the Cray Wanderers U18s who are through to the Merit Kent FA Cup Final after victory at Cray Valley PM on Sunday morning.
The Wands advanced after a professional performance to win 2-0 with goals from Corey Holden from the penalty spot two minutes before half time and then three minutes after the break Tommy Allen-Beattie scored a second.
Cray saw out the rest of the game to advance to the Final where they will face Rusthall on 21st April at Whitstable Town FC. Kick off 2.30 pm. Rusthall have been something of a nemesis for the Wands this season after winning in the FA Youth Cup and Kent Youth League Cup against Roy Brooke’s side. Cray also are in with a chance to win the Kent Youth League North and vying with Glebe for the title.
Meanwhile the Cray Wanderers Women in the Kent FA Plate Semi-Final for the first time were beaten 1-3 at Petts Wood yesterday afternoon. Cray, who are also vying for the SCEWFL Division One West title went behind in the first half but Jessica Oldfield levelled to make it 1-1 at half time. However, in the second half Petts Wood scored twice to earn a final place against Tunbridge Wells Foresters 1st XI in the final.
Despite the defeat it has been an excellent debut season for Dean Jarman’s side and can be proud of their achievements in reaching the Semi-Finals and beating Premier London Road and Margate on the way. Their next league game is on 7th April at Crayford Arrows, 2 pm ko.
