Congratulations from all at Cray Wanderers go to the U13s Lions who are Kent County Cup Winners 2020.
In a match against Maidstone United, the final was played at Faversham Town and they had to do it the hard way after a gruelling test of endurance after a 0-0 draw. Extra time couldn’t separate the sides and so went to a penalty shoot-out.
From the spot kicks the score became 3-1 to Cray when keeper Harry Haines saved the third Maidstone penalty and up stepped Heath Cole-Goodwin to slot the penalty to win 4-1 and win the cup.
Well done to Steve Owen and Steve Redman’s excellent young team and we hope they and their families enjoyed the day.

All at Cray Wanderers wish our U13s Lions all the best in the Kent County Cup Final tomorrow. It promises to be a great game against a Maidstone United side with a good tradition in the competition and are the holders of the trophy. Kick off at Faversham Town FC is 1pm.
Unfortunately the game clashes with the Isthmian League game with Merstham but we will all be there in spirit at the Final at Faversham Town. Please note that Canterbury City’s SCEFL Premier Division game today has been postponed and they groundshare at Salters Lane so we will update if the game has to be cancelled or re-arranged.
Steve Owen and Steve Redman’s talented team have had a great season so far in the Kent Youth League also reaching the League Cup Final later in the month and are also 2nd in the North Division with games in hand. They are also unbeaten since the opening day of the season.
They’ve advanced past Orpington (A, 8-1), Ramsgate (A, 4-1), Margate (H, 4-2), Folkestone Invicta (H, 1-0) and Bromley (A, 3-3, won on penalties) to advance to the Final.
Maidstone have beaten Cray Valley (A, 8-1), Stansfeld (H, 7-0), Dartford (A, 2-2, won on penalties), Chipstead (A, 2-1) and Metrogas (H, 4-1) to make it through.
This will be a tough challenge on a big pitch at Faversham but one the team will relish.
We hope to bring updates on social media during the day and best of luck to the team and hope the players, parents and friends enjoy the day.
